ABOUT US
Special Project: Renewable Energy
The provision of energy is vital for the alleviation of poverty. Schools need electric lighting, as well as power for computers. Renewable energy is a cost-effective and sustainable way of achieving this aim. Unelectrified parts of the Island will have to wait a long time for the national electricity grid to extend to them. Solar Power and Wind Turbines can be set up quickly and deliver power immediately. With the support and advice given by established originations working in Sri Lanka, CAL aims to provide clean renewable energy to unelectrified parts of the Island, in particular to orphanages and child care centres. CAL also aims to partner with established Microfinance Banks to fund renewable energy projects over the long term. This will effectively increase available budgets, and make those using renewable energy units real partners, rather than just passive recipients. Billions of people across the world want more energy. Only renewable and green energy will fulfil this demand without damaging the Earth’s climate. Governments across the world recognise this. CAL aims to run projects that reflect the world’s growing concern over global warming.
