Does Charity Begin at Home?

For those of you who like debates, this is an interesting one. Child Lanka are very grateful that Suzanne Evans (Deputy Leader of UKIP), Robert Evans (Labour), Matthew Maxwell-Scott (Conservative), Tom Brake (Lib-Dem) and Shasha Khan (Green) braved a cold winter evening to debate in a church hall just outside Croydon.

The time was January 2015 which was in the lead up to Brexit. Suzanne Evans went on to greater exposure in one of the biggest decisions the UK has made in decades which ultimately lead to the UK leaving Europe.

The reason for the question was to tease out whether the UK  should be giving money to countries like Sri Lanka via charities like Child Aid Lanka or whether money would be better spent in the UK. Always an interesting conundrum and interesting responses.
